Description
Prerequisite: CHM 130 or higher required.
The principle of human nutrition as it relates to health issues is the primary focus of this course. Emphasis is placed on nutrients and how they affect the human body. The structure and function, digestion and absorption, and metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, minerals, and vitamins are discussed. This course also examines energy, weight-management, nutritional requirements of different age groups, U.S. dietary trends, and guidelines for grood nutrition and health.
