Email & Mailing list Policy

All users of Diné College e-mail accounts have a responsibility to help maintain this resource on our campus. The Diné College network and related systems are a shared resource. The reliable operation of these systems and the responsible use of their resources is of common interest and concern for all users, operators and sponsors. In addition to ethical concerns, abuse of this system could result in criminal or civil prosecution.

Anyone who seeks to gain unauthorized access to the resources of the Diné College computer systems or network (such as, but not limited to, trying to log into or break into accounts or computers you are not authorized for) disrupts the intended use of the network, wastes resources (people, capacity, computer), and destroys the integrity of computer-based information and/or compromailing lists mises the privacy of users – any such action will result in loss of this privilege, disciplinary and possible legal action.

You are responsible for all use of your account. Do not give your password to anyone. Each account should only be used by the account holder.

Profane, suggestive, or abusive language or messages are not appropriate and will not be tolerated.

Failure to abide by these policies may result in loss of your account.

Abuse of e-mail may be subject to Personnel action (see Personnel policy manual section on offenses).

The Students' Code of Conduct applies to all e-mail postings.

Mailing Lists

There are several mailing lists available for use by the Diné College community. Membership to those lists is dependant on the individual's status at the College. (For example dc-all includes all DC employees (staff and faculty); dc-fac includes faculty members only; dc-students includes students only etc..)

Some mailing lists may be moderated for content. For all mailing lists, posts by non members are held for approval by the list owner.

Please note that attachments should be avoided whenever possible and when unavoidable they should be kept to the smallest size possible (reducing graphics content is one way to reduce size).

Individual account holders are responsible for the content of e-mails sent to the lists. The rules described above (Email Policy) apply to postings to any list.
